Liz Lawrence is a British singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and self-producing artist whose work has marked her out as one of the UK’s most quietly compelling indie storytellers.

Born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Liz played in local bands throughout her youth before moving to London to pursue her solo career. She released her debut studio album, Bedroom Hero, in 2012. Over the following decade her path took in wide-ranging creative partnerships: she formed the electro-pop duo Cash+David, toured extensively as a guest vocalist with Bombay Bicycle Club (appearing on their 2020 album Everything Else Has Gone Wrong), and featured on Toothless’s ‘Party for Two’. She has shared stages and tour line-ups with artists including The Big Moon, Everything Everything, Ani DiFranco and Big Special.

As a solo artist, Liz built a reputation for sharp observations, lo-fi folk origins and inventive indie-pop hooks. Her second album, Pity Party (2019), and third, The Avalanche (2021), earned critical acclaim from outlets such as NME and Q Magazine. In 2024 she joined Chrysalis Records to release Peanuts, an album that quickly became a favourite on BBC 6 Music.

In June 2026 Liz released her fifth studio album, Vespers. Written and self-produced at Vada Studios in Worcestershire following the loss of her elder sister Jessie in 2024, Vespers is a profound artistic evolution. Departing from muscular indie pop in favour of elegiac, stripped-back folk, delicate string arrangements and subtle acoustic textures, the album is a deeply moving reflection on loss, memory and love. With singles including ‘Black Ulysses’, ‘Mt. Nephin’, ‘Where Did You Go’ and ‘Sister’, Vespers stands as an unvarnished document of devotion, offering comfort, clarity and catharsis.
